Frozen ButterCream Transfer

Well, I finally did it!  I was so nervous to do it, so I thought I better just do it or I never would.  Today I did day 1 of a frozen buttercream transfer.  It is a 2 day process because you have to let it freeze for 24hrs!  So, today I outlined and then filled in with the colors.  I am attaching some pics of the first two steps and I will post again tomorrow with the final result!  It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be (at least not so far)! :)  I did chose a very LOW detailed picture too!  Anyways, here are the pics!

Step 1: OUTLINE

Step 2: FILL

Once you have completed step 2, you will spread whatever color icing you are going to use to cover your cake.  I just didn't take a pic of this step!!  Then freeze for 24 hrs!

RESULTS:
Not super happy with it, but it was my first try!

Change of Plans

Well, things changed around a bit, so I didn't do the frozen buttercream transfer this weekend.  I did however do another Ballerina Dora cake again!!  I will be doing the frozen buttercream transfer next Thursday and Friday tho.  I will be doing an Xmas Tree for a Gift Exchange I will be attending Friday night!  I am super excited and will post pics of it when I do it.  But here are a couple pics of the Ballerina Dora Cake I did!

Edible Image Cake!!

Well, I had never made an edible image cake before so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I went only and searched for edible images and found some on ebay.  So, I went ahead and ordered it.  This was a couple weeks ago.  When it came in the mail, I thought oh this is going to be easy!  :)  This morning I woke up and made my icing.  Iced the cake and went to get the edible image.  The paper said to let it sit out for about 10 mins before trying to peel it off of the plastic backing.  So, I did this.  Started to attempt to peel it off and it didn't want to budge.  Of course, I got upset.  Asked my amazing hubby for help and he tried.  It didn't want to come off.  So, I read the paper again and it said that if you are having trouble removing the image from the backing to "hold" it in the freezer for 30 seconds.  So, Chad did this and guess what, it came right off of the backing!!  Wooohoo!!  Disaster averted.  lol.  So, we placed it on the cake and went ahead and finished up the edging and here is the result!!! :)

On the 2nd and 3rd of December, I will be doing a frozen buttercream transfer on a cake of Team UmiZoomi!  I am excited and nervous about this because I have never done one before.  If you would like to see what I am talking about take a look at this link.  The beginning of the video is kinda boring, but you can fast forward to where she starts decorating! :)

A Little About Me!

Hello, my name is Courtney and I absolutely LOVE decorating Cakes and Cupcakes!  It is a real passion of mine.  I have been doing it for a little over a year and I am trying new things all the time.  Most of what I do is with buttercream icing, but I have done fondant a few times.  However, I prefer working with icing!  I am getting ready to try a new thing in a couple weeks too.  It is called a frozen buttercream transfer and I am super excited! :)  Anyways, take a look around and see all the cakes that I have done! :)  Enjoy!!!!!
